Friday Favorites: Fitness Edition
Happy Friday! Well, I am re-writing the beginning of this post because it somehow got deleted when I saved my draft. I’m not sure how- #technologicallychallenged. Oh well. Today I am brining you some of my favorite health & fitness related items/foods/fitness routines. I love reading about what other people/bloggers’ favorite health foods and workouts are, so I thought I would share some of mine. It has been a while since I’ve done a Friday Favorites post, so I hope you enjoy this one!
1. Favorite Workout
TCX- Also known as total conditioning extreme. The best way to describe this workout is like the insanity tapes on crack. Seriously. So darn challenging. My arms start to shake 10 minutes in and I am dripping in sweat within the first 5 minutes. The workout is set up so you do a set of 3 different exercises 2 times through without a break. Then you
“recover” by stepping side to side for 10 seconds (yes only 10! ) and then the next round starts. I love going to this class because it is such a challenge for me and I feel like I have not really been challenged that hard in many of my workouts as of late. I also love it because I learn so many new exercises that I can implement into my training. It also helps that the instructor is so high energy and fun! She makes the time fly by.
2. Favorite Healthy Meal
If you have seen my instagram lately, you will probably already know the answer to this one. Kale salads- duh! Seriously, buying a ginormous bag of Kale from Costco just for me was the best idea I have had in a long time. I learned that the absolute best way to make a Kale salad is to massage the chopped pieces (with the backbone removed of course) with a little bit of lemon juice & a tiny drizzle of olive oil to really bring out its flavors and to soften the rough texture. I made a Lemon-Garlic-Parmesan salad & Thai Peanut Chicken Salad. The Thai salad definitely reigned supreme for me. I am a lover of all foods Asian inspired. The thai chicken salad from Panera is my favorite “take out/ to-go” food item, and I think that I pretty closely mimicked their peanut sauce. #chefstatus
3. Favorite Health inspired quote:
I think this speaks for itself. Love. It. The body is capable of so much and so many people never see its full potential.
4. Favorite Fitness Gear: Nike Racer tank top
I absolutely love Nike workout gear. I am definitely a Nike girl. I buy other brands here and there (Asics, Brooks, Champion, Reebok)- but Nike is definitely my favorite. These tanks are so light & airy and don’t leave me nearly as sweaty as I am if I’m wearing a t-shirt! They are comfy, loose (but not too loose), and don’t get in the way when I’m exercising! They are perfect for running, yoga, lifting, kickboxing- you name it!
What new healthy foods/ workouts have you been loving lately?? Let me know in the comments!
